Space Shuttle Viewing Process

1. Wait until space shuttle launch transportation tickets go on sale.
2. Buy tickets.
3. Reserve some photography equipment.
4. Wait several weeks.
5. Wake up at 5 AM.
6. Meet four friends 15 miles away at 6 AM.
7. Drive.
8. Drive.
9. Drive.
10. Arrive at Kennedy Space Center.
11. Get through security, explaining that the bag really is just one big lens, and that I really do need another bag to carry the rest of my gear.
12. Tour the museum of early space flight history, explaining everything in expert (excruciating?) detail for the rest of my group.
13. Get in line for an IMAX movie.
14. Discover that STS-122 has been postponed due to problems with the engine cutoff sensors. Déjà vu.
15. Depart Kennedy Space Center.
16. Drive.
17. Drive.
18. Drive.

That’s about where we are now.
